Skip the line and enjoy the convenience of “food truck” speediness with the added comfort of brisk air conditioning, plush seats, and a server at your beck and call… That’s what chef Jeff Tunks of Passion Food Hospitality brings to his seven DC area restaurants strive to deliver with each establishment now catering to the mid-day lunch bunch with menus ranging from Express, to blue plate-style, to multi-course meals.
NEW! Following the heat from Cinco de Mayo, Fuego Cocina y Tequileria unveiled their “T&T” (Tacos & Tortas) Lunch Menu, inspired by the dishes that chef Alfredo Solis enjoyed growing up in Mexico City a la “street cart.” Tacos al Pastor, which are $7 along with all other tacos, delight with Marinated Pork roasted to perfection on an authentic spit and served with Pineapple Serrano Salsa, while Tortas (Mexican sandwiches), which are each $12, zip guests to the vibrant streets of Mexico City with favorites like Torta de Pescado with Spice Blackened Tilapia, Avocado, Cabbage Slaw and Remoulade.
Soups, salads, southern sides, an array of entrees, and a selection of a whopping six Poboy sandwiches comprise the Louisiana-inspired lunch menu at Acadiana. A $10 Poboy Lunch Combo includes a half serving of the Poboy of the Day, Red Beans & Rice and an Abita draft. Tucked between staples, favorites and old-standbys, Acadiana brings in off-the-menu specials with “The Catch of the Day” – a new coastal offering served with a healthful side of Greens, fresh Vegetables and a squeeze of Lemon.
Burger, Tap & Shake delivers crave-worthy burgers, innovative house-made shakes, and seasoned fries to the hungry masses and on-the-go students that frequent its bustling Foggy Bottom location. With quick counter service and a from-scratch approach, these burgers run the gamut between classic and down-right wild with favorites such as the Six Buck Chuck with all the essentials – lettuce, tomato, onion, pickles, American cheese and house-made BBQ-Chipotle AP Sauce, to the ingenious Haight-Ashbury with Crispy Falafel, savory Pickled Vegetables, Feta and Cilantro Raita sauce.
DC Coast is a landmark destination for the bustling downtown scene. Signatures like the all-meat Jumbo Lump Crab Cakes bolster the menu, while daily blue plate-style specials, like the Softshell Po’boy “BLT,” keep guests on their toes with farmers’ market finds and seaboard catches brought in straight from the dock.
Ceiba is yet another that brings Express Lunch to the table – delighting diners in an array of South American-inspired dishes. Signature menu items like Hot Pressed Cuban Sandwich or the Crispy Chicken Milanesa are available on the $20 Express Lunch Menu (served at the bar), which includes an appetizer, entrée and non-alcoholic beverage. Sides to Share encourage the social-side of lunch, while crushed sugar cane extract and fresh-pressed juice add authentic spirit to a refreshing mid-day sip.
District Commons brings the best of the water’s with Daily Catches—the chef’s “shore” find served Simply Grilled with Olive Oil, Sea Salt and a fresh, Green Salad. Keeping things mixed up with the turf and the surf, District Commons changes their Pig Board daily to showcase an array of America’s finest Artisanal Pork, so you can “ham it up!” Not to mention, a daily Sandwich Board which serves a different sandwich each weekday, including favorites such as the Oyster Loaf, Beef on Wreck and classic Monte Cristo.
Each day, PassionFish’s Express Lunch Menu brings three unique courses presented conveniently on one plate. Guests can travel—by fork—from the coast of Maine to the Pan Handle of Florida with a Shrimp Salad Roll, Clam Chowder and Key Lime Pie or leave things up to the chef’s discerning choice with a Daily Fish Entrée served Blackened with Green Salad, Seafood Gumbo and a Caramel Crème Brulee for dessert.
